CIMB Expands Wealth Proposition Amid Regional Demand Shift
CIMB Bank Berhad has introduced CIMB Private Wealth, a dedicated wealth segment designed to serve affluent individuals and business clients across ASEAN. The proposition combines institutional grade financial solutions with personalised advisory services, spanning investment, lending, protection, and succession planning.
Group Consumer Banking Chief Executive Officer Haniz Nazlan described the launch as a response to what the bank calls a great rewiring of wealth across the region, driven by demographic shifts, urbanisation, and rising income levels. Multiple generations are involved simultaneously in wealth creation, protection, and intergenerational transfer, prompting demand for more coordinated advisory support.
Advisory Model And Digital Access
Clients under the new segment will work with senior relationship managers and certified investment advisers, supported by portfolio reviews, asset allocation guidance, and market updates from CIMB’s Chief Investment Office. Digital wealth advisory is also available through the MyWealth feature within CIMB’s OCTO banking app, giving clients direct access to portfolio tools alongside human advisory support.
The offering includes both conventional and Shariah compliant solutions, along with premium privileges and benefits tied to the CIMB Private Wealth World Elite Card. Clients also gain recognition across CIMB’s regional network and access to the group’s commercial and wholesale banking capabilities in ASEAN.
Regional Expansion Plans
The launch forms part of CIMB’s Forward30 strategy, under which the bank aims to double its wealth assets under management by 2030. CIMB estimates ASEAN’s economy at USD 4 trillion, with the region’s affluent population expected to grow 5 to 6 percent annually, a trend the bank is positioning itself to capture.
CIMB Group intends to extend the private wealth business into Singapore and Thailand before the end of the year, broadening the offering beyond its initial Malaysia launch as part of a wider cross-border wealth push.
